Rich Ramm Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is given in memory of Rich Ramm who was a local farmer and an agronomy graduate. He was active in farm and conservation groups and lived what he advocated. His death was felt by many and the scholarship was established with donations from his friends and family.

Annual contributions from friends of Rich Ramm have continued to add to the scholarship principal, thus increasing the interest earned.  For example, from 1993 through 1998 the Woolrich Area Lions Club has donated the proceeds of their annual ham dinners and each year since 1994, Mr. P. Prentice Gilbert has been donating 10 shares of Amoco stock, worth approximately $500.00, to the Scholarship Fund.  The amount of the scholarship is determined by the amount of interest earned during the previous year.  This year the amount of $1000.00 will be awarded.

The scholarship is available to a graduating senior high school student or full-time college student who is enrolled in or has been accepted into an accredited program in the field of agriculture.

Primary consideration is given to those students who have continued to successfully challenge themselves throughout their academic years as indicated by course choice, grades, leadership and work experiences.

This year, two students were chosen to receive the award.  The Rich Ramm Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Lauren Daubert, a recently graduated senior from Central Mountain High School, who will be studying Dairy Science at Virginia Tech and Natalie Huff, a recently graduated senior from Jersey Shore High School, who will be studying Agriculture at Penn State University.  Each received a $500.00 scholarship towards her college education.  The directors of the Conservation District, as well as the other contributors to the fund, wish Lauren and Natalie the best of luck in school.

Applications for next year will be available at the Conservation District and from school guidence counselors in March.  The deadline for application will be the last Friday in April.  Award recipients will be announced the first week of June.

A tax-deductible contribution can be made to the scholarship fund by sending a check, made out to The Rich Ramm Memorial Scholarship Fund, Clinton County Conservation District, 216 Spring Run Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751.

The fund is managed by the Clinton County Conservation District, and administered by a committee of local people:
