The Clinton County MIS department employees a staff of three individuals.  With 2 AS/400 mini-computers, 4 Novell servers, 3 Windows 2003 servers, including an email and web server, and over 200 nodes in 7 locations they are kept very busy.  To keep costs in line, approximately 99% of all computer related work is done in-house by these individuals.  This page is intended to introduce them to you and to list some of the job duties performed and services provided both internally and to the public.

Suzy Watson, IT Manager

Suzy was hired in March of 1995.  She is a 1980 graduate of the Jersey Shore Area Senior High School and a 1982 graduate of the Williamsport Area Community College (now the Pennsylvania College of Technology).  She received an Associates Degree in Applied Science - Computer Science Technology.  She brought to the County 9 years of computer operations and 6 years of software application and database development, and system analysis and design experience.  Her operation and programming expertise lies in the IBM systems 36 and AS/400 environments.

Suzy created the MIS department, developed a policy and procedures manual, tightened security on existing systems, and with the help of ISS created the county network.  She instituted and documented a backup and recovery plan for all systems, including a disaster plan for the 911 center providing connectivity to a redundant database and emergency dial in to either the primary or redundant database.

Her daily duties include department administration and decision making, AS/400 operations and administration, custom software application programming and database design, overseeing network administration, PennFIRS (Pennsylvania Fire Incident Reporting System) county system administrator, JNET (Pennsylvania's Justice Network) county point of contact, providing expertise to all departments on software and hardware purchases insuring compatibility with existing systems, providing data to public entities in popular formats either digital or paper, among various other responsibilities. 

Judy Walter, Network Systems Specialist

Judy became a member of the MIS team in June of 1996.  She is a 1970 graduate of The Lock Haven  Area High School and a 1996 graduate of the South Hills Business School.   She received an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems.  Judy also served 12 years active duty in the United States Army.  Judy completed her South Hills internship with the County and upon graduation was hired.  She brings to the department a wide range of PC and networking skills.

Her duties include new system installations and configurations, network and security administration, hardware and software upgrades, virus software installation and administration, software and system research, among various other responsibilities.

Brenda Ballard, PC Support Technician

Brenda became a member of the MIS team in September of 2002.  Brenda is a 1981 graduate of Lock Haven High School and is currently attending the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Computer Information Systems - Networking and Technical Support.     

Brenda's duties include house calls to users having trouble, ordering and inventory of parts, equipment audits and inventory, installing new systems and software, and assisting Suzy or Judy as needed.
