Conservation Day Camp

The Conservation Summer Day Camp is held in the third week in June each year at the Keystone Central School District's Center for Environmental Education in Mackeyville. The Day Camp is an opportunity for students to learn more about conservation of natural resources and our environment in an outdoor setting. The Camp is open to any student in Clinton County or the Keystone Central School District area who has completed fourth, fifth, or sixth grade.

Students take part in various activities during the week, which may include learning about birds, streams, trees, wildlife, geology, wetlands, hazardous clean-ups and snakes. Students also participate in a mini-Envirothon, field trips, nature trail maintenance, and one overnight stay.

Camp director is Scott Koser, Education Coordinator/Watershed Specialist at the Conservation District. Instructors are generally teachers and college students - most recently, Donna Dorey, Julie Remaley, Mary Ann Bower, and numerous Lock Haven and Penn State University students.

Sponsorships are available to some students to cover part of the cost of the camp. The sponsorships in the past have been provided by donations from Dan’s Gulf Service, Kiwanis Club Inc, Charles Construction, Croda Inc, Clinton County Loyal Order of Moose, Joseph Dunleavy, Nation Wide Insurance, Clinton County Conservation District, Lloyd Wilson Chapter of Trout Unlimited, PPL, Wayne Township Landfill, Woolrich and the Kiwanis of Mill Hall.

If you or someone you know likes the outdoors and is interested in attending the camp, please contact the Conservation District's Education Coordinator at 45 Cooperative Lane, Mill Hall, phone 570-726-3798. Applications will be available in March and accepted from mid-April through May.
