W. Max Bossert Conservation Awards |

W. Max Bossert was a local county commissioner and state legislator from Clinton County. While a county commissioner, in 1947, he helped create the conservation district and served on the Conservation District Board of Directors in the 1980's. He was a true conservationist and did many things during his lifetime to benefit the conservation movement.In order to honor Mr. Bossert, each year the Clinton County Conservation District recognizes students in each of the area high schools. The W. Max Bossert Conservation Awards, a $100.00 savings bond, are presented to high school students from each of the area high schools in recognition of their efforts both inside and outside of school. These students have shown a sincere interest in our environment and are nominated by their teachers for the award. Some of the activities that these students have been involved in include the Envirothon program, recycling, Arbor day plantings, stream and wetland improvement projects, Adopt-a-Highway, school environmental clubs, and other community projects. The 2000 recipients of the W. Max Bossert Awards, recognized at their school award ceremonies were:
